Echelon Bike vs Peloton – Which is better and Why?

Of course, the Echelon is basically a Peloton clone (minus the built-in tablet display) and the flywheel which is at the back. The Peloton has its flywheel in front.

The Peloton bike is $$2,245.00 and a subscription of $39/mo. Whiles the Echelon is at half the cost – $999 and $39.99/mo | $33.33/month with Annual Plan | $25/month with a 2 Year Plan.

Echelon Bike vs Peloton Bike Comparison

On the other hand, a few but worthy things make the Peloton bike an unforgettable experience. It has a solid and sturdy steel frame and almost whisper-quiet wheels.

But the main attraction is its HD touchscreen display – that is where all the magic happens.

Peloton Indoor Exercise Bike Review

Peloton has a brilliant concept: a state-of-the-art bike with spin classes live or on-demand. The bike, however, comes with a hefty price tag ($1995 plus $250 delivery, plus a $39 per month subscription). Also available in the UK at £1,990 with a £39 monthly fee for the classes.

There are 4 distinct Peloton packages;

  1. Basic Package

The basic package offer comes in at $2245 which includes

Upon the success of this high-tech bike, Peloton has introduced the Peloton Tread. A surprisingly beautiful treadmill to complement the Peloton indoor exercise bike.

After the bike installation, all you have to do is plug in the bike’s power adapter. Now press the red power button on the top of the display – and get started.

The touchscreen display is your main point of access to the bike. Follow the steps on the screen to create your profile. After that, you can now sign up for classes.

It’s that simple.

Echelon Bike Review

For many who were saving up for the Peloton cycle, your search brought you to the Echelon connect bike and all its goodness. It may look new to the spin bike industry – but no more.

It’s now a major player and arguably the biggest Peloton competitor.

The Echelon business model doesn’t look any different from Peloton. Peloton has just had longer to mature the product.

The Echelon bike is gradually becoming the ultimate Peloton alternative of choice. Especially with their tempting price point.

Pros

  • scenic rides
  • live classes
  • Relatively quiet
  • Sturdy and solid
  • Easy to move around
  • month-to-month subscription

Cons

  • App cannot match the Peloton app
  • How to use echelon bike

Echelon bike with Peloton app

Even though the Keiser M3i bike is a favorite among Peloton App riders. You can use the Peloton app on any of the Echelon Smart Connect bikes for your own pleasure.

The advantage with the Keiser M3i is that, although it costs just as much as the Peloton, you are not locked into the monthly bike membership fee and this is a solid bike.

Suggestion: If you have never taken a spin class, you should go to a class first or watch some YouTube videos to learn how to position yourself properly on the bike, and also get the feel of your resistance level.

If you have a spin bike or one at the gym, I recommend that you give the app a try.

It’s free for the first 14 days.

Echelon vs Peloton Classes

Of course, the app and tracking are better with Peloton, but Echelon keeps growing and updating its system for a better user experience. It also offers live classes and leaderboard functionality just like the Peloton.

This is also not enough of a reason to pay well over $1000 more.

You do need a subscription for the Echelon classes, you can look at their website echelonfit.com or go to the app and click more > buy subscriptions.

The bike will fit heights from 4″11- 6″5.

It is super quiet. Feel free to try out a bike at Academy, Sam’s Club, Bed bath and beyond, Costco, or Johnson Fitness

If you don’t need the interactive component, I would look into buying a good-quality spin bike that tells the rpm and gets the Peloton digital app or some other online spinning classes to help make the ride more enjoyable.

I’m a runner, so this is an alternative form of cardio for me. Given that this was half the cost of a Peloton, I’m pretty pleased. Since they’re newer, I expect to see things improve as they continue to mature. So far, happy owner and am looking forward to what’s to come.

One thing the Peloton does best is how you get access to your stats in real-time during your class session – regardless of the class, you select. Peloton offers both live and on-demand classes. With a variety of classes to choose from.

And yes, you don’t necessarily have to pay the $39 monthly subscription or even take the classes after all. But come to think of this, why then would you buy such an expensive spin bike.

For what.

On top of that, you’ll be glorifying a super-fancy HD touchscreen display that can barely do nothing.

In fact, the classes are the main reason people buy this high-tech bike – that’s the hype. The Peloton experience they call it. All in the comfort of your home.

That depends on which side of our SPD compatible pedal you choose. If you choose to use the toe cage side, wear athletic shoes. We recommend as hard of a sole as possible. Never ride in open-toed shoes, slippers, flip flops, or barefoot.

If you choose to use our clip-in option on the reverse side of the pedal, use SPD cleats on the bottom of your SPD compatible cycling shoe. We offer SPD cleats on our site as well.

#WHAT CLOTHING SHOULD I WEAR?

Dry-wicking athletic clothing is recommended (because you WILL sweat!). DO NOT ride in loose-fitting bottoms, especially flare-bottom pants as the cuff could catch on the pedals and/or crank arm assembly.
