The Total Gym 1900 stood out as the best home gym by far, which set it apart from the Total Gym 1400 Deluxe. Again, in terms of value for money, how compact it is and its overall quality. This is all you need if you love the concept of home gym equipment for your home or office or gym.

Arguably, the top two home gym equipment in the Total Gym products line today: The Total Gym 1900 is more of an improvement on the Total Gym 1400 Deluxe for various reasons. Mostly due to the accessories included and the weight limit. Ideally, the Total Gym 1900 is sturdier and comes with a lot more attachments Which leads to a more targeted workout!

The main reason why I love the total gym products is your ability to use your own body weight against gravity when you exercise.

Total Gym 1400 vs 1900: Buyer’s Guide, How to Buy the Best Total Gym!

Price

The Total Gym 1400 is cheaper but the 1900 model is sturdier and comes with a lot more attachment/addons.

The Total Gym 1900 model comes with a leg pulley accessory kit, multi-function attachments, dip bars, squat stand, exercise flip chart, along with a 50-minute exercise DVD and nutrition guide booklet.

You can perform a variety of exercises on the 1900 gym, which also supports more user weight – 350lbs than the 1400 gym – 250lbs.

Assembly

You’ll see the description “Arrives fully assembled” on most product listings. However, there is some assembling involved which is not difficult to do.

You’re totally right and I agree when after receiving your order, you find out that “It was not assembled like they said it would be.” In fact, the home gym comes packed and folded and therefore needs unpacking. After that, you’ll have to assemble some of the remaining parts(attachments) which were not fully assembled.

Some people find it quite heavy so be careful when unpacking, assembling, folding and moving around.

Storage

As mentioned earlier, storing in-home equipment goes to the core of the reason why you even bought the total gym in the first place. Therefore, getting the total gym to easily fold away is very important.

You can get the Total Gym 1900 to fold in half and the top part folds down. In fact, it can be stored in a closet or under your bed. It’s about 93 inches long when “unfolded” in ready-to-use form.

And that is not very different from its older sibling the Total Gym 1400.

Build/Construction

Total Gym 1400 has a dimension of about 16inches wide 52inches high 92.5inches long. You can really feel it in the areas that your targeting, and it’s a great cardiovascular workout. A solid, well-thought-out design.

“The Total Gym 1900 is designed to help you tone, sculpt and strengthen your entire body without requiring the bulk and expense of a complete home gym equipment”, claims the manufacturer.

This product is well constructed, efficient and very effective.

Both gyms are easy to fold and unfold, stores in a closet, against the wall in your living room, or even under your bed – if only your bed is wide enough.

Again, it is quick and easy to attach accessories and reconfigure the gym as you go through my workout.

Weight Capacity

The Total Gym 1900 has a user weight capacity of 350 lbs and a shipping weight of 75 pounds.

On the other hand, the Total Gym 1400 has a user weight capacity of 250 lbs and a shipping weight of 73.2 pounds.

Resistance

How do you adjust resistance with the Total Gym?
You elevate the board. the higher up the more resistance. The 1900 model has 12 calibrated levels allow for 3-45% bodyweight resistance.

Attachments

The total gym 1900 setup includes a leg pulley, dip bars, press up bars, a crunch board, pilates bar, and multifunction bars. It also comes with a booklet and flip chart with 80 exercises from starter to advanced workouts.

A Total Gym can deliver a total body workout in only 10-20 minutes. Which is great for beginners and professionals alike.

Both gyms come with over 60 different exercises to work and tone every major muscle group in your body.

Also included with the 1400 model is a nutrition guide, exercise chart and a Total Body Workout DVD.

Total Gym has a lifetime warranty on its frame. You can buy a warranty with these machines which is for up to 3 years.

However, both machines have a manufacturer’s 1-year limited warranty.

Total Gym 1400 vs 1900 Benefits

Chuck Norris and Catherine

1. Weight loss

In order to lose weight on both Total Gyms, you must exercise regularly. Even though these machines may be good for sweating, burning belly fat and losing some weight, you’re required to also check your diet for maximum benefit.

2. Muscle Toning

You may be over 40, or a runner and you don’t intend to be a hardcore bodybuilder – your main goal for buying a Total Gym is for body or muscle toning.

Yes, both machines are not necessarily built for bulking-up but rather for toning muscles. This sounds like a good piece of exercise equipment choice for you.

Total Gym delivers a full-body workout in only 10 20 minutes which strengthens and tones multiple major muscle groups simultaneously.

3. Cardiovascular Health

How can you get a cardio workout on Total Gym?
You can easily get your heart rate up on the Total Gym with a good squat series. Plus you will work up a good sweat if you keep a decent pace on the pulley moves as well. It’s pretty much what you make it do.

For instance, “Jumping squats” are a great way to get some cardio training going on a Total Gym 1400 or 1900.

I work out my entire body on this gym I could feel the effectiveness right from the beginning to the end of every workout.

Answer: About 7 feet open and about 4.5 feet closed

Does this machine come with a guide for different exercises?
Answer: Yes! It does. It goes with a booklet that shows what exercises you can do and how you do it. Yes. It even gives you the exercises to start off if you’re a beginner

Recommendation

The Total Gym will enable you to work on a wide range of muscles (arms, back, abs, legs) and you will definitely feel the burn and results.

You can also look at the “Total Gym Exercise Chart” I found on Amazon for a few bucks as well as a “Total Gym 6-8 Minute Workout DVD”

Conclusion

This is everything you need for a full-body workout at home, a true “Total Gym”. Some people may pick the 1900 unit over the model 1400 due to the higher weight capacity rating.

Apparently, it’s very sturdily constructed and handles people of all sizes, with ease. It comes with a variety of attachments that switch out quickly to keep the circuit moving for a full-body workout.

Others may prefer the 1400 model for its ease of use and compatibility.

You’re not going to become a bodybuilder like Arnold Schwarzenegger with these machines, but you will get a great workout, geared more toward toning your muscle with the range of motion that the Total Gym offers.

Another added benefit is that you can also follow a precise circuit-training routine to factor cardio into the equation.
